"I was never able to sing, I was never able to write songs. But I always got a kick out of piecing together stories with bits of records". Eric San aka Kid Koala is a one-of-a-kind sort of turntablist. There's the fact that he's an illustrator, graphic artist, film maker, puppet master and musician. There's the fact that he always wears shorts. Then there's the fact that he sees his chosen means of expression not as a way of showing that he can do faster crabs than anyone else, but as a way of telling stories.
Yes, ma'am... His Majesty's third. Or fourth, if we count Scratchcratchratchatch as an album. In fact, that's the one that it resembles most, showing what he's learnt in the last 10 years. There's clearly the same mixtape style people were first dazzled by; the short length that we've already learnt to expect, and we even have two (left/right) sides, as of a cassette. But as it looks back to his early days, it also hints at the many projects Mr. San has to come. There are references to the book about a clarinet-playing mosquito, the musical puppet show (!) that he's working on, and also some "tests" from a new group called Slew (probably him and Dynomite D). You can always find out more in this interview, or you can just call me gorgeous and take a listen to some of the grimiest shit on the streets at the moment.
