Limited to 500 vinyl 10-inch, recently made available for free in record shops around the world - a totally non-profit venture. It documents the debut collaborative release by these two artists who, like many others, did a share of sound exchange across the web. Again, never heard a dem before, but they pull a neat trick with a pretty varied mixture of events, so to speak. "Both artists operate on the cusp of both experimental and pop culture, creating radio, audio and DVD releases, film and A/V multimedia. Their work combines an irreverent approach with a probing curiosity that explores crossover points between media. By appropriating and recontextualising found footage, they craft collage with equal inflections of wit and impending doom". The music is fundamentally electronic (but not usually sounding so), with references to 1920's ballroom music, 1950's easy listening, jazz, cartoon and classical music, seamlessly melding diverse elements into a dynamic, rhythmic patchwork. They combine appropriation with live instrumentation and humorous vocals, with very open tangential musical structures. Lots of fun indeed - the only quibble's in its short length. Don't worry though, there is an additional 5 (five) hours of related material from the same period, and it's free to download as well! This should keep us busy for a while, yes it should...

i've been listening to "Poeple like use" since 1995, so this is a very appreciated share "because its a limited edition"
«Gregory Whitehead, Negativland, The Tape Beatles and People like us», have a special section in my collection (i call it: the best of cut and paste music), sounds like nonsense but it isn't, they are more a social critic of pop culture, with very high intellectual backgrounds
Ergo Phizmiz, i don't think i have any of his works
after visiting their site:
forgot to mention, Messer Chups, Felix Kubin, thanks for bringing these names back :)
i think i will revive some old albums today
very good, this. i like how very much more happy your music gets as spring progresses into summer :))
but felix kubin is much more electronic than this little gem.
i'm looking for these albums:
a) Longstoned - Kabuki
b) A Hawk And A Hacksaw And The Hun Hangár Ensemble
c) Jonquil - Lions
d) Badun - Badun
e) Von Südenfed - Tromatic Reflexxions
f) Pomassl - Amalgama
g) Simon Bookish - Trainwreck/Raincheck
^^ umm, i don't really take requests here, but i might check some of those names.
i've found another playful band (it's favourite tag on last fm is something like music to listen to while you're cycling through a field of maneating sunflowers). it's called uske orchestra and makes for very happy refreshing listening on hot times like these.
Vicki Bennet alias People Like Us has all the music she's ever made including all collaborations available for free at her website. It's an amazing amount of intelligent and inventive fun!
