Sophisticated music played with the intimacy of someone who records alone in a room, somewhere in an apartment on top of a retirement facility for Vietnam vets, choosing to be surrounded by loop pedals, computers, guitar, lap steel, banjo, piano, ukelele, flute, toys, plus many more instruments and sound sources alongside his favourite cello. Something sweet and sad that you'd just probably call 'eclectic' if it wasn't for its special moods and twists - the spontaneity and, uhm, the extra something... Lost in a batch of records that did nothing other than press my patience, this is in fact an excellent find, with lots of heart, skill, and a large feel for the outdoors, still - the open air. Was not the almond a symbol of hope?...
