Dijf Sanders is a one-man-band from Antwerp... hold on... Dijf Sanders is one-third of Ghent-based band The Violent Husbands, which since long have stirred some media attention for their take on, err, "intelligent country music". Dijf's solo project goes less smoothly, both this and his previous album staying almost unnoticed, in spite of having much to do with the glitchy/jazzy trends of late. Actually, it's somewhat hard to pin him down: he goes from Four Tet acoustics on the 1st track to Tom Waits-style broken love ballads on For Your Ass Only (google it to find the title of a tad 'pikantische' film). Or Jizz, in which vinyl noise and a drunken piano sails you to New York-ish jaaaazzzclubs of the 20's, with them whiskeys, fat cigars and sweaty men with beards around... Nnnnice. Former Beck trumpetist Jon Birdsong joins in for a while and there's also some double bass, but the rest is all Dijf. And it's good fun.

Kooky clunky electronic jazz fusion gold.
