Subtle
For Hero : For Fool
Lex/EMI 2006

01. A Tale of Apes I
02. A Tale of Apes II
03. Middleclass Stomp
04. Middleclass Kill
05. Midas Gutz
06. Nomanisisland
07. The Mercury Craze

08. Bed to the Bills
09. Return of the Vein
10. Call to Dive
11. The Ends

Panoramic Oaklandish avant-pop weirdos offering cryptically rapped odes to woe and libido.

Well, it's official: Dax Pierson has partially recovered from his car accident, and although he won't be seen touring anytime soon, he's taking his Subtle duties seriously. "There's always hope, man"... The band's just been co-signed to EMI, so things might turn lot better than anyone thought. They're still a freaky load, harsh and even kind of menacing. But that's to be expected. It's good, in fact. Cause then again, it can get quite gentle and beautiful. Cause there's so much more to it and lots to look for. The kind of music which, by mixing all the styles, ends up more resembling them, while making something of its own, completely indefinable. Oh, will the fun last? Will I be listening to this for the next 5 years, or even next month? I dunno. I only know it's essential listening for now.
