Very unusual work from Tom Zé -- a series of seven highly rhythmic tracks that announce the "death of the song" -- and which features a mostly instrumental blend of acoustic and electronic elements! The tracks here are all very earthy -- placing rhythm first, and building from lots of percussion, then adding in choppy guitar, bits of keyboards, chanting voices, and lots of weird sound effects and unusual noises -- all with the highest level of mania you might expect from Tom Zé! Purportedly, the work is Ze's answer to an MTV marketing report that discovered a new trend for "hedonism, consumerism and social irresponsibility in youth" (big surprise!) -- but whatever the inspiration or political motivation, the music also sounds plenty darn great on its own.
