We had Valerio Cosi here before as half of Amber Lions - some probably still remember that quite well; however, to be fully aware of his prodigious talents (at 22 years old!), you'll have to listen to at least a solo disc, this being the most recent I could find. Shit, I almost flipped upon first realizing how diverse/advanced the guy's techniques are. It's not that much about principle or concept, but about someone enjoying dueling himself by different methods, always divided between several worlds. Valerio is well trained in sax and drums, self-taught in electronics, fond of collage, drone, the avant-garde, African and Middle-Eastern sound worlds; and while this speaks enough about the musical persona, it's how he makes 'em all vibrate in such positive energy. Not gonna bother trying to describe each track or how it personally affects me; instead you listen for yourself and think twice before even uttering "eclectic". These six tracks may not be Valerio's definitive statement - I think he has bigger things in store - but for now they're the cherry on the Foxglove cake, fresh from the branch, rebellious, and as spiritual as any holy book around.
