Cookshop 1 year anniversary

Well yes: Cookshop got old. A bit more lively though than when it started. As the supreme Lord Keeper, I would firstly like to say "merci" to everyone who's passed by, and the ones who've given something back. From tips to opinions, to links on your own blogs - even if I never linked you back. This place has been quiet and largely inaccessible due to restrictions, but I'm happy with what I got, and thankful for all people I've met through it. Not to mention all the goods that we've come to discover.

Useless to start with history, since there's a way better alternative. A mix that my friend Loopy C has done for "Radio Valyermo", from a series of different other 'obscure' blogger-shared material. I am humbly honoured to have contributed, and hope the mix will serve as both a retrospective and good introduction to what sounds we love here. There are no less than 143 snippets taken from various posts in CKS archives, in about half an hour playing time. Click here to listen or download, and you might wanna check his other stuff as well. For the future, I am still convinced some of the best releases are the ones to follow, and as much as life permits, I'll try and track them down. See you soon - right now special DVDs silently await their burning.

I would also mention among the well-deserved accolades for musical taste, the WRITING!

I only discovered Cookshop a few months ago and faced with a wealth of archives, it was the writing that guided me through the unfamiliar territories. That included many a sidestep from my normal hunting, because the writing enticed and drew me into what might lie beyond this 'silent link with a story'.

That adventure is what makes finding a blog author like doru649 so special, the 'way finding' adventures once reserved for that special out-of-town record shop discovery (minus the atmosphere of mold, post apocalypse frankenstein stereo on '11' and ashtrays of the world overflowing with their unique perfume ;-))

The taste 'meistering' and writing synthesise an almost tactile experience from the publishing medium that, at least for me, becomes indelibly stamped on the musical experience and memory.

So I drink a second toast to our host for his keen textual articulations and 'dances about architecture' ;-)

cheers mate ;)

to be really honest and un-flattering, well.. if i ever had to chose a 2nd writer/contributor for this blog, that would be you. specially since i don't have much time to articulate my thoughts no mo'.

btw, your discs are proper burned; just need to label them & send. is that address you first gave me still "appropriate"?
