Back to acoustic fuzz then, with Grant Capes from (VxPxC), the proud new father of Phantom Limb. "Simple post-rock guitar melodies nestled alongside loops, drones, synth and distortion pedal" is, of course, a promissing prospect. Negligent at first, it doesn't seem to capture any epicness or bigtime "storyline". Like having nothing there to hang to, ethereal and floating; comes out like moisturizer, spreading on like seeping through the skin. But all very nice still, for the slightly cinematic touch and dreaminess. Silent cinema, taciturn dialogues, distant landscapes. Guitar echoes and sad synths. There's something comforting about them, something of deep honest tenderness... smiling directness. "This is me, this is my music". "I'm open, are you?"... Melancholy and freshness. The rain after the rain.
