In ontology, the study of being (etre) is anything that can be said to be, either transcendentally or immanently. (etre), a project of Italian-born Salvatore Borrelli, is a strange mixure between free-folk, experimental music & glitchtronica. It uses different typologies of medias, manipulated in real-time. Neon, ice, glass, fire, colours and chemical substances, robots, radios, metals, ethnic instruments, are melted in a particular approach used to produce stratification, but always with a constant relation between origin & becoming. -p.r.

Worth the trouble looking for this one while it still is in stock... Edition of 80 video-enhanced CD's, with pretty packaging and a small, intimate, surprising home-movie collage for 'Dear Dead Woman'. As for the music, you should know already - Italians are absolutely great at layering sound & feelings, never becoming stale or overbearing. They kind of let it go, but give their stuff a common sense of purpose. What's of particular interest here is the so-called "free glitch" style that would become, at least for now, the hallmark of Mr. Borrelli's work. Amongst his extensive arsenal: acoustic guitars, harmonica, field recordings, piano, baby toys, violin, broken turnables, micromodular & laptop processing, moog filters, drums, sampler, organ, and tape loops. As usual with my fellow Latins - highly recommeded.
