CD1. Times Ten Resequenced with Two Second Gap [47:37]

CD2. Times Ten Resequenced with Variable Gap [58:41]

A work of collage, but almost a document, a research project - a study on a section of our universal musical culture, wherein ten easy listening records from the Muzak library are played at the same time (either in "two-second gaps" or "variable gaps"). It's almost like changing channels on the radio - however, the only stations available are easy listening ones. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and would make a fantastic installation piece. At times, the waves of nostalgia buffet gently against one's craft, depending on whatever pharmaceuticals one has at hand; at other times, it's as if drug spirals drag one down through the nightmare psycho-logical sequences of a 1960s film where the ending is anything but certain. -D. Something of a lost classic of sound art/collage superposition, dense and layered to high heavens. Schafer's UbuWeb page has listed similar experiments with 5 rock albums from the 70s and 3 popular drum solos, which I invite you to download alongside exclusive remixes/deconstructions. No need here for lengthy introductions!
