12Rec 2007

02. Objet Abandonné en Mer (Partie I, II en III)
03. Et Sa Corne de Brume
04. Bourrasque

Oh I wish every label was like 12Rec - one can order their CD's via the regular Paypal, but first one can easily mp3-preview all of them via archive.org, true netlabel style. With artwork like this, you're pretty much going to catch my eye regardless - nothing wrong 'bout judging music by its cover, right? The title, Objet Abandonné en Mer, may be itself quite high in, err, image-evoking; however, it's not like either Nicolas Bernier or Simon Trottier stood by the beach for days to tape the cries of seagulls. More likely, they've jammed with "acoustic and electric guitar, laptop and toy piano, diverse stringed instruments, percussion and microphones". Things tinkle nicely in a breeze here, while Trottier's folky guitars are put onto an electro-acoustic hotbed. Bernier carefully avoids the pieces getting too soft, or plain ambient - instead there's some urgency that makes them more varied and intriguing than expected. Not really songs - still soundscapes, but very melodic. In many aspects, a buyable release.
