Last year's AnimaminA EP was such a nice little find from these girls, if you can use the term "little" for all it had to offer. Their sound has the warmness and purity that makes one draw instictive parallels to Sigur Rós - not overly surprising, knowing Sigur Rós owes much to Amina's instrumentation on Takk. I can't really get used with the extra "i" (added "to eliminate confusion with the Tunisian singer Amina"), but guess that's the only major change made ever since: they still have to play a bad note, release a bad track, or bore. This is how Iceland rocks it, folks. Gotta love the cover.

Speaking of girl power, clocked with lush instrumentation, clocked with Scandinavia: Hanne Hukkelberg is yet another favourite down here - one of the most amazing voices I have heard singing. It's a great shame more people don't know about her, 'cause she could stop city traffic with a solo and lift a poor man's soul from misery. Cast Anchor is just an EP and all you need for now, but seriously, check out everything she's touched - you won't regret for a million years...
