With all the recent changes in electronics drawing to sensibly more organic, textured, and humanistic approaches, you have to expect people from other sides will wanna follow lead. Turntablism has for quite some time been seen as 'non-music', or music of a very strict/narrow audience, few DJs like Spooky, Koala, or The X-Ecutioners rising occasionally; but "shit done changed" if you've payed attention, and what better references than Birdy Nam Nam, C2C, Ricci Rucker, Cut Chemist - even Machine Drum's Cached with IE.merg - a surprisingly enjoyable battle record. Now you may know 2Tall for his DMC belt, or his Shifting Tides, and you may also know he's more concerned with production and musicality than speaking to extraterrestrial intelligences; Lamont, meanwhile, is runner of the Real Tablist label, and member of Grazzhoppa's DJ Big Band - a unique project regrouping 12 DJs, a singer and a sax player, who has been touring Europe for the last 4 years. They prove there can be a life beyond scratching, bodytricks and making routines, and yes, they can actually make you press repeat. Also featured on Truth About Pan's Sons - a top international project free to d/l from Groove of Satyre (info in comments box).
