Plexus II
Miasmah 2006
01. Plexus II (40:58)
Comprised of one forty-minute composition, Yann Tambour uses his cello, voice and the natural sounds around him to slowly piece together a life-affirming symphony in the vein of Steve Reich, Colleen or even Deaf Center themselves. Beginning with the hushed, echoing sound of slowly scraped strings, we are subtly introduced to longer chords and the simplest of lightly plucked acoustics. This is a piece of music which you just have to let build around you, close your eyes and it gently arranges itself bit by bit, with elements appearing and disappearing gracefully and purposefully. The track reaches a triumphant moment of togetherness midway through, where every element is blended together before falling head over heels into the second half - a darker journey accompanied by the sound of rain pattering on a window.
