He lives in Helsinki, Finland. His surname is unprononunceable to non Finno-ugric language speakers so prefers to simply be known as Hannu. His musical background includes a free-grindcore band Abyss at the age of 11 plus lots of teenage experiments with four-track recorders and synthesizers...

His source of inspiration is nature, landscape, weather, light, places, friends... His music captures a mood or a feeling of a place, to take the listener somewhere for a moment. The album is a very personal statement and it is mostly recorded and produced at home in Helsinki, but some of the songs utilize sounds culled from four-track recordings he made as a teenager in his home town in Northern Finland.

You've gotta be careful when wielding these co-opted musicologist phrases that are now nothing but cliché. So, like, I'm not gonna say this Hannu dork from Finland is composing compositions for some imaginary movie (never made), or that, simply because he is a Finnish dork, his music should be warmer and better that anyone else's. Yes, I feel the Finnish cold, and a distinctive kind of ambience, spinning cinematic-type evocations that get all, like, evocative. Directing a picturesque picture. And yes, I feel the feel of damage, nostalgy, loss... Hannu seeks to collate incidentalism into some profound whole, his lo-fi man-as-island craft coming from an intimate world - blanket wrapped; as warm and nurturing and enveloping as the womb; his score recalling unce-upon-a-time in your mama. And even when the clouds roll in, indulging in it don't feel like no sin, with all this romanticized romancin' rounding you up; and when the clouds part and the sunshine hits, and the light blinds, you are mystified as to how this Hannu dork from Finland composed something so mystifying, with movement so beautiful; and it's all up in your ovaries.
