"Strjon" is the name of Arve Henriksen's third solo release. The title is taken from the medieval name of his native village Stryn and means flowing water. -I've come to acknowledge that utmost localness is something exotic and rare says Arve, and that somehow it reverberates deeper than appropriated sources of impulse.

Further insight on Strjon provided by the interview, which roughly explains his new artistic vision, Deathprod's important level of involvement, techniques, and the need for an "identity account". Arve Henriksen means more than trumpet, but a very genuine, deep, humble guy. Hopefully people will support him as they did until now.

Loading up the ol' iPod, going to be working in the 'OC' for a couple of weeks so will check back in a few. The last couple of entries look really interesting, can't wait to take them for a 'spin'...literally ;-)

My copy of this arrived at the weekend, and am pleased to say that it lives up to my high expectations. I think it is incredible that here you have (for my money) the best trumpeter in the world right now, and yet the album is about (as you rightly say) so much more than trumpet. In particular, I love the long throat singing drone track towards the end...just brilliant.

Oops, sorry. I sometime forget that perhaps the whole world hasn't heard (or watched the TV show set in)...Orange County, CA! Home of Disneyland, The Angels, and a few million 'desperate' housewifes ;-)
