Sixth in my stack of advance releases - left it for last not expecting too much... Not that I knew too much what to expect, because monsieur le "Buschaffeur" is far from typical, but you just have to doubt someone like him pulling through a 5th album. First off, it's haaard to get more than half from the words, however bold and clever (bit like a colured Dose-One, isn't he?), and that's avoiding the real issue: production. Only a few could match his style 'til now (Daddy Kev, Daedelus...), so three tracks into RoadKillOvercoat, I had to find out who these other 'brothers' were, killing beats and storming. Not gonna say, ha ha! - but check it, 'cause it's yet another mindfuck, bigger than ever. Stylistically we're all over the map - screw detailing - with both producers and MC taking you through a what-the-critics-call "rollercoaster". Like a complete synthesis of the Busdriver sound, plus new stuff to look for (he sure learned some things from Pigeon John and touring with Islands). Great team-up, great avant-rap, of an unhealthy beauty, but beauty nonetheless.
