Brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio have long been secretly driving the scene in Torino, Italy, branding their own so-called "cosmic light" space-ragas through countless My Cat Is an Alien releases, plus several collaborative projects kept only for special occasions (see Earth to the Spheres series at Wikipedia). In present case, the occasion marks a tribute to "tape recorder man" Alan Lomax, who they say "more than any other, has worked to bring the music to light, in the widest and most absolute meaning" (i.e. manic sound collector); co-authored by Fabio Orsi, whom the duo considers "the most interesting emerging Italian musician, from the bloody heart of Naples". Make no mistake - a grand affair, as Fabio's 40-minute re-interpretation is incredibly touching. The kind of slow-moving slab that doesn't promise anything at all, morphing into everything you could've prayed for. Laptop, field recordings, guitar, piano, old keyboard. And by the way: essential listening for everyone reading this.
